Quick Answer: The Elastic Recovery Mould is a set of three brass/gunmetal moulds built to specified shape, dimensions and tolerances, used to form the briquette specimens required for elastic recovery testing of bitumen. The mould’s ends (B & B’) act as clips and its sides (A & A’) form the sides of the mould, assembling into a briquette specimen with a total length of 75 ± 0.5 mm and dimensions A, B, C, D and E each held to ± 0.1 mm tolerances.

A set of three moulds made of brass /gunmetal with the shape, dimensions and tolerances. The ends B & B` are known as clips, and the parts A & A’ are known as sides of the mould. The dimensions of the mould shall be such that when properly assembled it will form a briquette specimen having the following dimensions.
Total length : 75 ± 0.5 mm
A = 36.5 ± 0.1 MM
B = 30.0 ± 0.1 MM
C = 17.0 ± 0.1 MM
D = 10.0 ± 0.1 MM
E = 10.0 ± 0.1 MM
