What Is the Concrete Cover Meter Used For?
Concrete cover protects reinforcement from corrosion and fire, so its depth is checked on new work and when existing structures are assessed, together with where the bars run. The operator moves the search head over the concrete surface; the pulse induction signal responds to the steel below, and the screen shows where a bar lies, which way it runs and how deep it is, with the earphone available while scanning. Readings can be passed to a computer over the PC cable. With the standard head, 8 mm bars are picked up to about 70 mm depth, and optional probes widen the range of work.
