What Is the Power Press Machine Used For?

A power press stores energy in a rotating flywheel and, when the clutch is engaged, the crank shaft converts that rotation into the up and down stroke of the ram, which drives the upper tool into the lower tool to cut or shape sheet. The operator sets up the press tools, adjusts the stroke, using a short stroke for blanking and forming, and runs continuous strokes for mass production. Blanking cuts flat parts out of sheet, while forming bends or draws the sheet into shape between the tools.
