What Is the Sprit Level Used For?
A spirit level shows whether a surface is horizontal by the position of an air bubble in a sealed, slightly curved tube of liquid: when the surface is level the bubble rests between the marks at the centre. Fitters and builders use it when setting up machines, benches and building work. The level is placed on the clean surface and the bubble is read, then the level is turned end for end and read again, so that any error in the level itself shows up. The 0.50 mm/meter version is chosen for high precision requirements.
What to Specify When Ordering
- Quantity — the number of levels required.
- Accuracy — the regular version or the 0.50 mm/meter version for high precision requirements.
Frequently Asked Questions
What accuracy versions are available?
Two ranges are offered: a regular mm/meter accuracy version and a 0.50 mm/meter accuracy version for high precision requirements.
What is the frame made of?
The frame is precision extruded aluminium with a precision milled base, and rubber moulding on the sides protects the body from damage.
How many bubbles does it have?
It has 3 bubbles in a compact design, and its spirit bulb is of solid construction so that it does not break easily.
How does a spirit level show level?
An air bubble in a sealed tube partly filled with alcohol or another liquid rises to the highest point, and its position between the marks shows whether the surface is level.
Where is it used?
It is used to determine the flatness and level of surfaces in the construction and mechanical industries, and in workshops setting up machines and benches.
