What Is the Internal Micrometer Digital Used For?

Inside micrometers measure interior sizes, such as the diameter of a hole or bore, in machining, manufacturing and mechanical engineering work, where outside micrometers cannot reach. The operator places the caliper-type jaws inside the feature, turns the thimble until the carbide contact pins meet the opposite walls and reads the size on the LCD in inch or metric units. Readings can be sent through the SPC output to a computer or other device for statistical process control records, using an interface cable bought separately.
