Digital Thermometer (code EL-MAILE-10839) is a portable RTD thermometer for metrology and other exacting laboratory work, such as serving as the reference for temperature calibration baths. It uses a precision Pt100 probe over -50 to 250 °C (-58 to 482 °F), resolves 0.01 °C with a system accuracy better than 40 milliKelvin (0.04 °C), recognises 3 or 4 wire sensors automatically and reads in °C, °F, kelvin and ohms.

What Is the Digital Thermometer Used For?

A resistance thermometer measures temperature through the electrical resistance of a platinum element, which rises steadily as the element warms. In a calibration laboratory the probe is placed in a stirred bath beside the thermometers or sensors under test, and their readings are compared with it at several set temperatures. A 4 wire connection removes the effect of lead resistance on the reading, and the ohms readout allows the probe's resistance to be checked directly. The metal bench-top case can be panel mounted with the optional kit, and the rechargeable battery lets it be used away from mains.
