Turbo Jet Engine Test Bench

Turbo Jet Engine Test Bench

Product Code : EL-TELE-10706

Quick Answer: The Turbo Jet Engine Test Bench is an experimental test stand that lets students investigate the operating behavior of a jet engine, comprising the jet engine itself (compressor, annular combustion chamber, turbine, and propelling nozzle) along with its fuel system, starter and ignition system, and measurement and control equipment. Running as an open gas-turbine cycle, it draws in ambient air, compresses it, ignites a fuel-air mixture in the combustion chamber, and expands the resulting high-temperature gas through a turbine and propelling nozzle to generate thrust. The gas turbine starts fully automatically via an electric starter, and speed, temperature, and air/fuel mass flow rate readings are shown on digital displays and transmitted to a PC via USB, using the included data acquisition software.

This experimental test stand trainer investigates the behavior during operation of a jet engine, and includes the following components: the jet engine itself (with compressor, annular combustion chamber, turbine, and propelling nozzle), a fuel system, a starter and ignition system, and measurement and control equipment. The gas turbine works as an open cyclic process, with ambient air being drawn out and fed back in; the ambient air drawn in is first brought to a higher pressure in the single-stage radial compressor, and in the downstream combustion chamber, fuel is added to the compressed air and the resulting mixture is ignited, increasing the temperature and flow velocity of the gas.
The gas then flows out of the combustion chamber into the single-stage axial turbine and discharges a portion of its energy to the turbine, which in turn drives the compressor. In the propelling nozzle, the partially expanded and cooled gas expands to ambient atmospheric pressure and accelerates to almost the speed of sound, and this high-speed gas outflow generates the thrust; to reduce the outlet temperature, the exhaust gas stream is mixed with the ambient air in a mixing pipe.
The gas turbine is started fully automatically with the aid of an electric starter, and the speed, temperatures, and mass flow rates of the air and fuel are recorded using sensors. The measured values can be read on digital displays and, at the same time, transmitted directly to a PC via USB, with data acquisition software included.
